what is DC Actuator Cable Engineering Pro
A high-precision engineering tool for calculating maximum cable runs for DC actuators. It now features a cable size selector (mm²) that automatically populates standard copper resistance values, ensuring accurate voltage drop compliance for 24VDC systems.
How to use DC Actuator Cable Engineering Pro?
Step 1: Enter Actuator Specifications
Input the key parameters of your DC actuator system: the actuator's rated current (in Amps) and the system voltage (typically 24VDC). This forms the basis for the voltage drop calculation.
Step 2: Select Your Cable Size
Use the integrated cable size selector to choose the cross-sectional area of your copper cable in mm². The tool will automatically populate the standard electrical resistance per meter for your selected size, ensuring precision.
Step 3: Define Voltage Drop Limits
Specify the maximum allowable voltage drop (as a percentage or in volts) for your 24VDC system to remain compliant and ensure reliable actuator operation. A common limit is 3-5%.
Step 4: Calculate & Analyze Results
Click calculate. The DC Actuator Cable Engineering Pro will instantly compute and display the maximum permissible cable run (in meters or feet) that keeps the voltage drop within your defined limits for the selected cable size.
