what is AJ HVAC
A comprehensive HVAC cooling load calculator that calculates heat gain from people, laptops, lighting, walls (sun exposed and shaded), roofs, windows, ventilation, and infiltration with multi-zone support. Each zone can have multiple entries for each category with detailed results showing individual heat gains and totals in TR and kW.
How to use AJ HVAC?
Define Your Zones
Start by adding one or more zones to represent different rooms or areas in your building. Click 'Add Zone' and give each zone a descriptive name (e.g., 'Main Office', 'Server Room'). The AJ HVAC calculator supports multi-zone analysis for comprehensive load calculations.
Input Heat Gain Sources for Each Zone
For each zone, input detailed data into the relevant categories: number of people and their activity level, quantity and wattage of laptops/equipment, lighting wattage, dimensions and construction of walls (specifying sun-exposed or shaded), roof area and type, window dimensions and glazing, ventilation rates, and estimated infiltration. You can add multiple entries per category for accuracy.
Review Detailed Breakdown
As you input data, the AJ HVAC calculator provides a real-time, detailed breakdown of the sensible and latent heat gain for each entry within every category. This allows you to see the contribution of each element (e.g., each wall, each person) in your selected units.
Calculate Total Cooling Load
Once all data is entered, the calculator automatically aggregates the heat gains. View the total cooling load for each individual zone and the grand total for the entire project. Results are clearly displayed in both Tons of Refrigeration (TR) and kilowatts (kW) for professional convenience.
Adjust and Optimize
Use the results to identify major heat contributors. Easily modify inputs (e.g., improve window glazing, reduce equipment wattage, adjust ventilation) in the AJ HVAC calculator to see how different design choices impact the total cooling load, aiding in system sizing and energy efficiency planning.
